Tennessee Valley Music Festival – 2020
July 6, 2020 - July 10, 2020
Update (Aug 4, 2020): V-TVMF 2020 Virtual Orchestra Video
Update: Registration is now closed.
On behalf of the artistic and administrative staff, and the Board of Directors, we are thrilled to announce that the Huntsville Youth Orchestra will hold a virtual Tennessee Valley Music Festival (V-TVMF) this July. We are all excited about our V-TVMF 2020! Though TVMF might be a different experience this year, COVID-19 will not take TVMF away from us.The dates for our V-TVMF will be July 6-10, 2020, and classes will be offered for all of our students, no matter the level of orchestra. V-TVMF will consist of masterclasses, faculty and student recitals, and an all-camp, virtual orchestra project arranged, edited and mastered by Robert J. Bradshaw, our TVMF Composer-in-Residence. All students will participate in the virtual orchestra project, and Mr. Bradshaw is creating parts for a wide variety of playing levels. If you aren’t sure what a virtual orchestra project might look like, take a look at the Lean On Me – Waring School Virtual Performance project that Mr. Bradshaw just completed for the Waring School.
The schedule for the week will be as follows:
Monday, July 6, 2020 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – 5:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Students will be sent an invitation to participate with their master class teacher. Friday, July 10, 2020 Student Recital – 4:00 p.m. Interested students will submit an audition recording to Mr. Lee, who will choose, with one other judge, 8-10 students to perform on this Zoom recital. Faculty Recital – 7:00 p.m. Students will hear performances by members of the incredible TVMF faculty. Rob Bradshaw will end this session with a virtual orchestra project update, and show the students a small sample of how it’s coming together. |
The cost of V-TVMF 2020 is $75 per student.
At the end of the 2019-2020 season, we invited you to take advantage of a special offer: a $50 discount on the tuition for TVMF or the 2020-2021 season. While you may choose to participate in TVMF with your discount, the HYO has been awarded a matching grant for V-TVMF by the Alabama State Council on the Arts. The tuition that you pay for V-TVMF, or any funds that you might donate to V-TVMF, will be matched up to $7,000. Our graduated Seniors will only pay $25 for V-TVMF.
Optional Add-On: Private Lesson
All students will also have the option to schedule a private lesson (one) with the teacher of their masterclass, to be arranged at a mutually agreed upon time during the week. All of the teachers will charge a special TVMF price of:
$45 (1, 45-minute private lesson)
$60 (1, 60-minute private lesson)
We are looking forward to making music together again this July!
