Back to Basics:

A Focus on the four major periods of Western Music

 

HYO Fall Concert, October 22, 2017

Focus on Baroque and Classical, Trinity UMC, 2:00

The Huntsville Youth Symphony, Sinfonia, Philharmonia, and Concert Orchestra will perform selections including the monumental Bach/Stokowski Toccata and Fugue in D Minor and Mozart’s Overture to the Magic Flute

Holiday Concert, December 3, 2017

Randolph School’s Thurber Auditorium, 2:00

Sinfonia, Philharmonia, Concert Orchestra, and combined Novice Strings will perform

a selection of light pops and holiday music.

 

HYO Winter Concert, February 26, 2018

Focus on the Romantic period, Asbury UMC, 3:00

Sinfonia, Philharmonia, Concert Orchestra, and Intermezzo and Novice Strings will perform a

selection of works from the Romantic period.

 

Huntsville Youth Symphony Winter Concert, March 5, 2018

Focus on the Romantic Period, Asbury UMC, 3:00

The Huntsville Youth Symphony will present works by

Beethoven, Rossini, and Dvorak.

 

HYO Spring Concert, May 20, 2018,

Focus on the Modern Period, Trinity UMC, 3:00

All HYO ensembles will perform music from the 20th and 21st Centuries, including pieces by Gershwin, Shostakovich, and a brand new piece by TVMF Composer-in-Residence Robert J. Bradshaw

 

Other Musical Events:

Carols of Christmas. Trinity UMC, with guests, the Huntsville Youth Symphony, December 10 and 11, 6:30. Tickets are required, but are free in advance at the Trinity UMC office.

Panoply Festival of the Arts. Big Spring Park. Date and time TBA.
